Web Design and Branding

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a global fellowship dedicated to helping individuals recover from alcoholism through peer support, meetings, and shared resources. Their primary mission is to guide individuals towards sobriety and a healthier life by providing a supportive community.

Project Overview

The redesign of the Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) Australia website was a comprehensive effort to update both its functionality and aesthetic appeal, while respecting its long-standing values and mission. Along with the website redesign, a detailed brand style guide was created, ensuring the visual elements maintained consistency across all platforms. This included guidelines on logo usage, typography, color palette, and website layout, aligning with AA's core message of unity, support, and sobriety.

Challenge

The existing website was cluttered and overwhelming, which made it difficult for first-time visitors to navigate and find relevant information. The design lacked clarity, especially for newcomers, who are the most crucial audience. Additionally, the site needed better organization for various user segments: newcomers, current members, professionals, and the general public.

Solution

The redesign focused on streamlining the site’s structure, ensuring clear and intuitive navigation for different user groups. A key part of the solution was developing a brand style guide that provided a cohesive design language. This included using the AA's signature color palette, with shades like Indigo and Tangerine, and integrating modern typography to create clarity and professionalism. The new design offered specific pathways for newcomers, professionals, and members, and incorporated visual elements that reinforced AA’s commitment to anonymity and support. This also included adapting the design for both desktop and mobile experiences, ensuring accessibility for all visitors.
